Job Description 

  • To provide planned care for patients undergoing anaesthetic and surgical procedures.
  • To assist in the management of work as required
  • To assist in the supervision, leadership and training of the theatre team when required.

To help and support the patient prior to surgery, preparing a wide range of specialist equipment
and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment, and devices that safely
secure the patient’s airway during anaesthesia. During the surgical procedure the anaesthetic
practitioner will also provide essential support between the surgical team and other parts of the
operating theatre and hospital. The anaesthetic practitioner will also be responsible for the
preparation and safe transfer of the patient to the Critical Care or Recovery area.

As the Anaesthetic Team Leader you would be responsible for managing the anaesthetic staff in conjunction with the other team leaders to provide daily operational management whilst also working with the theatre managers and other healthcare professionals to build the foundations to realise the trust's aim to provide excellent care every time. You will support the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia. In partnership with the Clinical Directors Directorate Matron and Clinical theatre Manager you will implement and lead the framework for clinical governance and patient safety including monitoring its effectiveness You will expected to supervise junior colleagues and unqualified members of our team staff ensuring that all staff is able to provide the highest standard of care through evidence based practice.
